Maximal Star Block of the Month Quilt
Are you looking for a unique Block of the Month quilt pattern? The Maximal Star BoM is not your typical sampler style BoM quilt pattern.
The quilt is made from 8 different diamond block designs. Each month from January - August 2026 you will make 6 of the quilt's 48 blocks. The BoM begins with the simplest block and gradually increases in difficulty as the month's progress.
What is it?
The Maximal Star BoM is a 9 month Block of the Month quilt program. You will receive the new block instructions on the 1st of each month from January - August. In September, you will receive Quilt Assembly instructions and the Bonus Baby quilt pattern instructions.
Quilt Assembly Instructions will be given in Month 9 (September 2026). This includes the instructions for a unique background which makes the star appear to be surrounded by a circle although there are no curves in this pattern. In Month 9 you will also receive the instructions to make a Baby size quilt pattern from extra fabric from the prior months.

The BOM will officially begin on January 1st.

Who is this BOM for?
The Maximal Star BoM is for quilters who want a bold and non traditional design, steady progress, and a quilt that looks more complicated than it is all while being a part of a built-in community.
This is an Intermediate quilt pattern. Precision is very important when assembly blocks and sewing diamond blocks together. There are Y seams in the background of the quilt pattern. However, if you can accurately cut fabric and consistently sew with a 1/4" seam, you can make this quilt.
